No Thanks, Mr. Banks
03:17
|
|
||
From his face so stern to his handshake so firm,
everything about Mr. Banks reflected his concerns.
Travellin' the country with his big suitcase
he sold his "Life Improvements" to folks,
showing them what they'd missed.
"Buy my special time device
to help you better organize!
Cut down on your hours of sleep,
have more time for productivity!"
No thanks, Mr. Banks.
I'm good this way.
Don't wanna pay for all the stuff that I don't need,
creatin' nothing but dependencies.
Don't dump that stuff on me;
I'm already happy.
Mr. Banks kept travellin' 'round and 'round,
but everywhere the people kept turning him down.
He made no profits and soon grew frustrated.
How could they not see
how well his products were fit?
"Please fill in these paper forms,
ensuring us that you conform.
You can trust me, have no fear!
Now, please sign right here, here, here, and here."
No thanks, Mr. Banks.
I'm good this way.
Don't wanna pay for all the stuff that I don't need,
creatin' nothing but dependencies.
Don't dump that stuff on me;
I'm already happy.

Judgment
02:15
|
|
||
Sometimes plans go wrong,
things go sideways - it's all a mess.
But all of this is part of life, I guess.
Please spare me your negativity.
Yes, I screwed up.
Well, I just thought it'd turn okay.
But there's no point in bitching now, it's too late.
I feel so free, when you're not there to see.
I wonder if you realize
how frustrated you leave me.
Why can't you just shut up and leave me be.
You don't help with your judgment, you like to condescend.

Up to Me
04:09
|
|
||
Passing by the highway sign. You live 'round here.
I think of you. Wonder how you do, but
I don't know.
We haven't talked, since you told
me that you didn't want to hear from me...
Back in town, Christmas in our old bar.
Looking 'round, I'm astound,
how bizarre:
It's all so strange, though I spent here so much time.
This place is the same, but it's no longer mine.
Places don't hold memories.
That's why it is up to me
to remember what we've been through.
And I hope that you do too.
I so hope that you do too.
Nothing along this boring road does reveal
anything to anyone of what
happened here.
Cars, trees, pavement, fields, and an ordinary sign.
It's just the name on it that takes me back in time.
Places don't hold memories.
That's why it is up to me
to remember what we've been through.
And I hope that you do too.
I so hope that you do too.
I refuse to let anything
spoil my memories of our past.
Our final weeks were ugly and tough,
but we have years to be proud of!
Yes, we have years to be proud of.

Frozen Toes
03:30
|
|
||
It's not much: I'm cold the wind bloes, but I'm touched
by simple things, no need to judge.
No gears turning, I've jammed in the clutch.
The pressure lifts, there's no more need to rush.
It's what I need: drawing in the sand with my feet.
Stormy skies stirring the black sea.
I'm tired, yet at ease.
Sweet nothingness inside and around me.
Wave sound droning their rhythms, diluting bounds.
Smiles washing over frowns.
And mirrored in the skies majestic clouds
a sea of moments, in which I drown.
I let it go, I let it go,
all trouble has left me alone.
I let it go, I let it go,
all it takes is some frozen toes.
I let it go, I let it go,
thinking stops, feelings flow.
I let it go, I let it go,
all it takes is a runny nose.
I let it go, I let it go,
all trouble has left me alone.
I let it go, I let it go,
all it takes is some frozen toes.
I let it go, I let it go,
thinking stops, feelings flow.
I let it go, I let it go,
all it takes is a runny nose.

Dear Preacherman
03:25
|
|
||
Dear preacherman, what is it that you gain
sending boys off to war to die in His name?
That book you cite you will never know,
as you don't study it; it just serves you as your throne.
You tell people what to do, you dictate their every day.
You tell people what to think, rule their lives in every way.
Your Creator so "almighty" wouldn't make something that's flawed.
So, why would you want to change how we live and who we are?
Dear fellow man are you not ashamed
wanting refugees to leave back to a land that's up in flames?
"They're lazy", you say and "on our wellfare they prey".
Next day, change of mind: now "they take our jobs away"...
Please move out of your shithole. See the outside of your cave.
Find out what the world is like by seeing for yourself.
You defend your patriotism that's of xenophobic hate;
when truly it's freedom for all that makes this country great.
Dear Mr. President, don't you see it fail,
your crusade for freedom being all to no avail?
That peace you're fighting for it will never stay,
as long as you defend our rights by taking theirs away.
Every gun that you send in just generates more hate.
Like the warlord before you, you have swallowed their bait.
You're truly the most powerful man on our pale blue dot,
'cause with few simple commands you could make it all stop!
You could make it all stop!
